Local Newton Mom Takes on the Cartridge World

Wednesday September 16, 2015

Local residents are taking a stake in their community as the new owners of Cartridge World in Newton.

Getting in business Nicole DeGeso Vidal, a stay-at-home mom for six years, and during this time also did finance work for a few years.

When she and her husband needed ink cartridges, they found a pretty cool place to buy them. It was called Cartridge World and it was located on Newton-Sparta Road, in Andover. The Vidals befriended the owner, Bill Butler, and followed him, as customers, when he moved the business to Mill Street, in Newton, to be closer to Sussex County Community College and Newton's downtown business.

Then, one day, they were dismayed to learn he was going to sell the business. That's when the stay-at-home mom had the epiphany that if she bought the franchise from Butler, she could arrange her hours around the kids and own something that's eco friendly. The purchase was made a few months ago.

Eco-friendlyCartridge World is known all over the world for its eco-friendly ink and toner printer cartridges. The business was launched more than 20 years ago and today has stores in more than 50 countries.

“Cartridge World is an industry leader for delivering high-performance printing products that help you save money, help the environment and print great,” Vidal said.

She said where some other cartridge companies do not fill their cartridges to capacity, Cartridge World does.

“You get more ink, plain and simple,” Vidal said.

She also has a program where businesses can recycle old, used cartridges.

One of the keys to the success of her business is a guy named Chris Bassani, Vidal said. “He came with the business,” she chuckled.

Having worked for Butler, Bassani was happy to stay on as Vidal's manager.

Vidal is a local gal who grew up in the area, graduated from Kittatinny High School and went on to graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Students and business owners frequent the store on Mill Street, and Vidal said they also do deliveries within about a 15 mile radius.

Cartridge World of Newton is located at 55 Mill Street. For information and hours, visit www.cartridgeworldofnewtonnj.com or call 973-383-0204.
