Save Ink while Printing Coupons

Friday September 29, 2017

Printing coupons can require a significant amount of ink, particularly if you are doing it on a regular basis. You obviously value frugality when shopping for product and services. Why not save on printing, too? Here are some tips to cut down on ink usage when printing coupons:

Print Only What You Need

It can be easy to get carried away when printing coupons. However, make sure you’re only printing the coupons you will actually use. This will not only help you stay organized, but it will also prevent you from wasting ink on unused coupons. Print out coupons for products you regularly purchase, and wait to print those that you are unsure about. This is particularly important for time-sensitive coupons, since you may not even get to the store in time to redeem them.

Change Your Printer Settings

Changing your printer settings can make a marked difference in reducing your ink usage. Different printer models will have different steps for changing the settings, but many of them will have a printer icon you can select. Then, go to “Properties” or “Settings” and click on the ink-saving feature under one of the tabs. Select the lowest resolution so you can use the least amount of ink, while not compromising the scanning quality of the coupon.

Print in Black and White and On One Page

When printing coupons, also make sure your printer settings are set to print in black and white. There is no reason to print a coupon in color – this will only use up more expensive color cartridges.

Printing multiple coupons on one page will also save in ink and paper costs. When printing from, Redplum or Smartsource, you can print up to three coupons on one page. Take advantage of this feature and print out a few coupons at once. Also make sure you’re not printing out the advertisements at the bottom of the page, since this also wastes ink.

If you’re overspending on printing, the few dollars you could save using a coupon won’t matter. Make sure you’re employing best printing practices to save ink and paper—and ultimately save money.
