Selecting the Right Printer to Meet Your Business Needs

No matter what size your office, choosing the right printer or multifunction device is important to keep your business up and running. What might seem like a small investment could end up costing you in the long run if you don’t match your unique needs to the printers features and capabilities. • Inkjet Printers – Best for low volume home office / small office use.
Affordable and compact, inkjet printers can easily fit on most desktops or into small areas. Inkjet printers tend to print at a slower speed than laser printers and the liquid toner cartridges often produce lower page yields. This means you may be required to replace the cartridges more frequently depending on your print volumes. Inkjet printers are perfect for home or small office use if you only print low or medium quantities of documents daily.
• Laser Printers – Perfect for medium to higher volume printing.
Traditionally, laser printers have cost more than other types of devices, but that's no longer true. Laser printers typically produce more pages-per-minute and, although replacement cartridges generally cost more, laser toner cartridges will yield more pages than most ink jet alternatives. If you print a high volume of monochrome or color documents, or have a frequent need to print high-resolution color images, a laser printer might be a great choice.
• Multifunction Printers (MFP) – Everything you need into one business device.
If you need to print, copy, scan and fax documents, a Multifunction printer can replace a roomful of single function machines with one device. Often, MFPs will also allow you to print on larger paper sizes up to 11x17 inch or ledger size paper. If you currently use multiple single function devices, one big benefit is the reduction of vendors, different supplies and less invoices to worry about because you have everything in one device. Even though an MFP may seem pricey, purchasing an MFP can actually be less expensive than having to purchase a separate fax, copier, printer and scanner. If you run a small business with multiple users, an MFP can cover all of your printing and copying needs without wasting time, space, or money!
